“This book is the result of the author's master's thesis at PUC/SP, prepared under my supervision. It was thus with great satisfaction that I saw this volume come to light, in order to reach a wider audience. In fact, the present text presents a content that, despite being rich and instigating, is little known to the reader. In seven chapters plus a Conclusion, the author presents an aspect of Carl Jung's thought, his analysis of alchemy as a manifestation of man's psychological depth. In doing so, she highlights one alchemist in particular, Gerardus Dorneus, who lived in Germany in the early seventeenth century, with his reading of the three alchemical degrees of conjunction, toward religious experience in the Unus Mundus.
About the
Book
Besides a confrontation with Jung's own work, the author collects a significant number of other sources, alchemical or not, to support her thesis. With erudition, she develops her argument by dialoguing with these sources, emphasizing mainly reconciliation, both psychological and religious. Thus, it is a book recommended not only for those interested in Jung and Analytical Psychology, but also for those who wish to know more about this fascinating practice that has marked both East and West, the alchemy”
(Eduardo Rodrigues da Cruz , Full Professor at the Department of Sciences of Religion of the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, Brazil)
"...And that is the great merit of this book: almost a manual, a roadmap for the processes of the soul."
(Denise G. Ramos – Vice President of the International Association for Analytical Psychology, 2001)
